Artist Statement

Created by Trillium’s own Dan Melick, Artist Statement celebrates his 10-year anniversary with us!

Sitting somewhere between a White IPA and a Trillium-style hazy IPA, the style holds a special place in Dan’s journey. The first White IPA he tried over a decade ago at his first brewery job sparked his curiosity for craft beer.

Just as artists draw inspiration from the works that came before them, Artist Statement blends two classic styles, the Belgian Witbier and the Hazy IPA, to create something new and expressive. Dry-hopped with Citra and Nelson Sauvin and accented with orange and coriander, it opens with bright citrus aromas layered with tropical undertones. The light-to-medium body carries through to a delicate floral finish, making the beer both approachable and inviting to explore.

Dan designed four unique labels, each representing a phase of an art gallery experience: the creation, the review, and the viewing. One label features the artist’s statement, another shows people perceiving the beer as art, a third highlights the collaborative process of making art and beer, and the fourth offers a playful negative review. Like the labels, the beer itself evolves through the contributions of many, celebrating the collaborative effort that brings both art and brewing to life.
