Second Derivative
Dave Witham, founder of Proclamation Ale Company passed away unexpectedly in December 2020. When JC heard the news, he immediately reached out to Proclamation to offer support. We began communicating with other members of the New England beer community and a fundraising opportunity coalesced through Craft Collective to benefit Dave's seven-year-old daughter, Harper. As one of the first hazy and hoppy offerings in the New England beer scene, Proclamation's Derivative was a pioneering Pale Ale. Unwilling to accept any credit for helping put this now ubiquitous style on the map, Dave was deflecting from the moment he named the beer.

To honor Dave, his family, Proclamation, and this classic beer, we're proud to take part in brewing Second Derivative. All proceeds from our version of the beer will be donated directly to Harper's 529 plan. Dry-hopped with Motueka, Second Derivative is a 6.0% IPA that presents a beautiful light straw color. The aroma offers nuance, shifting from a citrus-fueled lemon-lime character upfront to a more tropical, juicy pineapple approach on the back of each sip. Sporting deft balance and a highly refreshing finish, we hope you enjoy Second Derivative amongst cherished company. To learn more about the Second Derivative project, click here.
